If your home is your castle, when your bathroom springs a leak, you may look at it as a moat; however, unwanted water is always a problem inside your home. Rather than allow the liquid to sit, drip, or run, fix the problem and save your castle. Here are the three most common plumbing issues you should know about.
1. Clogged Toilet
It happens to every home at one time or another. A child may flush a car into the sewer line while he or she is playing in the bathroom, or a tree may force its way into a drain line, causing it to break and produce a backed-up toilet. If you find yourself with a toilet bowl that drains very slowly, or won’t drain at all, call in a plumber and have him or her run a smoke pump tester through the line to see where the problem is.
2. Dripping Faucets
One of the most common of all household plumbing problems, the dripping faucet has even been satirized in movies and television shows for years. Whether your drip is slow and relentless, or the water is leaking with a steady stream, it is almost always due to a tiny piece of plastic inside the seal of the handle. The washer stops the water as the handle puts pressure on the system, so it is vital to have someone replace it.
3. Stubborn Sink
Sometimes a blockage occurs in one of your household sinks that you can’t easily remove. When that happens, use a plunger to see if you can remove the clog, and if that doesn’t work, you can try dropping baking soda into the pipe and adding a small amount of vinegar. If that doesn’t help remove the clog, call in a professional plumber to find the problem.
Almost every homeowner has experienced at least one of these three plumbing issues. If you find yourself unable to solve the problem, call for help.
