As the crisp breeze of fall starts to set in, it is natural to want to update home decor to match the season. A trip to the local coffee shop and a wander through the nearby home decor store can be a great way to get inspired, but the price tags on those fall wreaths can be staggering.

Fortunately, there are more affordable options available. With a few simple supplies, one can create a rustic fall wreath using burlap and twine. This DIY project is easy to make and can be customized to fit personal style.

Getting Started

To make a fall-inspired burlap wreath, a few basic supplies are needed. These include a wreath frame, burlap garland, and a roll of thick twine. Basic tools like scissors, a glue gun, and a ruler are also necessary.

One unexpected item that can be used in this DIY project is a toilet paper roll. This everyday item can be used to form the burlap into cannoli-shaped rolls, which will be used to create the bulk of the wreath.

The DIY Process

To start, cut a 12-inch piece of twine and tie each end to the wreath form to create a hanging loop. Then, wrap the form with the burlap garland to create the base of the wreath. Hot glue is used to secure all the pieces in place.

Next, cut 84 5-inch-by-5-inch squares of burlap garland. The toilet paper roll is used to form each square into a cannoli-shaped roll, and then the rolls are glued around the outside of the wreath form. Three layers of burlap rolls are created: one around the outside of the form, one along the outer rim, and one along the inside of the rim.

Once all the glue has dried, the wreath is fluffed up and hung in a favorite spot. The wreath can be customized by adding fall leaves, pine cones, or other decorative accents. The base of the wreath is neutral enough to be used for any season or holiday, and decorative accents can easily be swapped out for different pieces in the next season.

With a little creativity, a beautiful and unique fall wreath can be created that reflects personal style. The best part is that it will not break the bank. This DIY project is a great way to create something unique and personalized.

Customizing Your Wreath

The beauty of this DIY project is that it can be customized to fit personal style. Fall leaves can be added to give it a pop of color, or pine cones can be used to add some texture. If the wreath is to be hung on a wall instead of a door, a suction cup or adhesive hook can be used.

A lightweight wire is used to attach decorative accents, making it easy to swap them out for different pieces in the next season. This makes the wreath a great investment for anyone who likes to update their home decor regularly. With a little imagination, a beautiful and unique wreath can be created that will be the perfect addition to fall decor.
